Predictive AI: limits and considerations

Since my last post, I have been busy preparing for my third year exams and writing a legal article on how different jurisdictions regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence in public sector decision-making. I am greatly drawn to administrative law, so I try my best to stay informed on this technology as it is reshaping the practice. While writing my article, my professor, Dr. Raul Madden , recommended the book ' AI Snake Oil ' by Arvind Narayanan and Sayash Kapoor. It is a very insightful overview of AI and while not geared towards legal practitioners, it provides easy to understand explanations of AI technology. The analysis and implications discussed are also supported with fascinating real-life case studies. (Stay tuned for a book review Dr. Madden and I are working on!) Making Climate Action Investible: The Policy and the Data

Introduction Last week, I attended ‘Making national climate action investable: why and how?’, 1 a public lecture hosted by the Transition Pathway Initiative Centre (TPI Centre) and the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The expert panel shared insights on how they believed sovereigns could make Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and climate action goals attractive investments to raise funds necessary for the low-carbon transition. These insights are valuable as we track the policy developments of young administrations such as in the US and UK, as well as how upcoming governments in Canada and Australia will pursue NDCs and climate action objectives.
